Vayakhel! - This coming Shabbat, Friday March 16, 2012, the Torah portion will be Parashat Vayakhel, which extends from Exodus 35:1 - 38:20.  The Haftarah reading is I Kings 7:40 - 7:50 (A); I Kings 7:13 - 26 (S).  You can download the lesson as a PDF file, WORD file or as a PDF Children's Lesson.

My computer troubles have been fixed and we are now up and running again.  I'm sorry for the interruption in the past three weeks.  Hopefully I can get back into the groove of sending these out each week.  Thank you so much for your patience.

Parshas Vayakhel & Pikudei

It's A Vision Thing
The cloud covered the Appointed Tent, and the Glory of God filled the Tabernacle. (Shemos 40:34)

This Shabbos is the third of the four parshios—Parashas Parah—read at this time of year. The special Maftir will discuss the mitzvah of the Parah Adumah—Red Heifer—necessary to purify someone who has become defiled through a dead body, which was necessary before someone could partake of the Korban Pesach—the Pesach Offering.

Hallel (I)

Hal’lu Avdei Hashem
In anticipation of the upcoming festival, we will be devoting the next few essays to in-depth analyses of the Psalms that make up the “Hallel”. This first shiur will focus on an overall introduction to Hallel – in its various forms – along with an analysis of the first section, Psalm 113. Due to space limitations, we will only allude to Halakhic considerations relating to the saying of Hallel – our main focus, as per the general parameters of this forum, will be oriented towards understanding the text.
