"Do Not Fear" (Deuteronomy 3:22) Av 8, 5772/July 27, 2012 We begin this Shabbat the reading of the fifth and final book of the Chumash - the Five Books of Moses. Deuteronomy - Devarim in Hebrew, which literally means "words" is the book of the words of Moshe. Told by G-d that he will not be entering the land of Israel with the rest of his people, Moshe spent the final thirty seven days of his life on earth speaking to the children of Israel. Nobody knew Israel like Moshe knew Israel.
