Parshas Masei Yirmiyahu 2:4 This week's haftorah continues the theme of the three weeks and introduces the month of Av. The prophet Yirmiyahu reprimands the Jewish people and reminds them, in the name of Hashem, of all of the favors they have received over the years. Hashem asks, "What wrong did your fathers find in Me that distanced them from Me and resulted in their following the empty practices of idolatry diminishing the Jews to nothingness? They didn't turn to Hashem who brought them up from Egypt and led them through the desolate dangerous desert." Hashem continues, "And I brought them to the fertile land of Israel to partake of its fruits and goodness. But they defiled My land and disgraced My inheritance." (Yirmiyahu 2:5) Hashem faults the Jewish nation for presently rejecting Him and resorting to the shameful ways of idolatry.

http://www.Torahlife.tv This week's reading is Numbers 33:1-36:13. It is the last book of Numbers. We see once again Yahweh's mighty hand this week, how He has taken care of the children on their 40 year trip. This week Yahweh tells the children the instructions they are to follow when they get to the promised land, expel the idols and drive out the unclean people so there is no mingled seed. That's what it comes all down not mingling the clean and the unclean.

I don't know why it happened. I don't understand. I am only a student, barely out of my teens. I am not a rabbi, a philosopher, or a psychiatrist. I can't explain it at all.

Some have tried. They talk about injustice, senseless violence, a world we cannot understand. They discus the need for better mental health services, better ways to screen for criminal insanity, and the necessity of taking away the stigma of mental illness so that those who are ill may get help and those who are not may be protected.

I think: It's not a puzzle to be broken apart, a riddle to be solved. How can one give reasons, not tears? It seems so uncaring, so clinical and so cold.

I did not read the papers. I did not click on the links. I do not want to read anything about the autopsy. I want for it to be untrue, but if it must still be true, I wish everyone would stop giving their opinions about why it happened. Read further........ .
