I am sorry I did not send the Torah portion out this week : (     This only happens about once every 3-4 years, so, those of you who are new to the list, don't worry.  It's not a regular occurrence : )

It’s hard to believe, but we are already in the 3^rd book of the Torah.  The book of Vayikra begins where Shemot left off.  The Tabernacle has been built, the glory has filled it, and now there must be more directions for the services that will take place there.  What is the reason for the sacrifices?

Parshas Vayikra Elevation in Affliction1 To the merely casual student, korbanos represent a collection of details overwhelming in abundance, and short on inspiring understanding. One korban stands out as different. Olas ha-of, a bird offered as a wholly burnt offering, makes matters even worse! Its details are not just different from comparable korbanos, they seem to run in an entirely reverse direction.
