Psalm 83:2-4: "For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; and those who hate You have lifted up their head.  They have taken crafty counsel against Your people/am, and consulted together against Your sheltered/hidden/treasured ones.  They have said, 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation/goy, that the name of Israel may be remembered no more'" (Psalm 83:2-4 emphasis added).

For a number of years now I have had cause to suspect the usage, in the English translations, of the Hebrew word "goy" and "goyim."  The more I thought and prayed about it, the more I began to be alarmed, especially after reading Psalm 83.  Indeed, if the enemies of Israel want to cut us off from being a nation/goy, what better way of doing it than through a change in the definition or translation of words?  If, for example, "goy" is understood to mean a non-Jewish person, heathen, or gentile/non-Israelite, then Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob's progeny/seed, who according to YHVH's promises were supposed to be a "goy gadol" (great goy) and m'lo-ha-goyim (fullness or multitudes of nations), would actually turn out to be non-Jewish individuals, heathens, and gentile/pagans. Does not that sound like replacement theology? 

Who would be interested in replacing the Israelites as a "nation" and a "company of nations"?  The Web Encyclopedia, Wikipedia, provides us with a non-too-subtle hint as to one of the greatest enemies of the Elohim of Israel and His chosen nation/goy, Jacob.

From Wikipedia:  "The term Gentile (from Latin gentilis, by the French "gentil", female: "gentille", meaning of or belonging to a clan or tribe) refers to non-Israelite peoples or nations in English translations of the Bible. The Greek word ethnos was translated gentiles when the context for the base term 'peoples' or 'nations', Hebrew, גוי (goy) and נכרי (nokhri) in the Hebrew Bible and the Greek word ἔθνη (éthnē) in the New Testament, indicated non-Israelite peoples or nations. The term gentiles is derived from Latin, used for contextual translation, and not an original Hebrew or Greek word from the Bible.  Following Christianization of the Roman Empire, the general implication of the word gentile became "non-Jew." [The Jews at the time represented "the nation of Israel" including the lost, or hidden treasure of YHVH.]

"Ethnos" is typically translated "Gentile." But we have to remember that in the Church's understanding even when it is rendered "nation" all too often it is perceived as a non-Israelite.  In Damascus a Jew by the name of Ananias had a vision where "… the Lord said to him, "Go, for he [Saul, the former persecutor of the Believers] is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles/ethnos, kings, and the children of Israel" (Acts  9:15).  Was Ananias referring to the promises to Abraham, Sarah, and Jacob: "Be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall proceed from you, and kings shall come from your body (Genesis 17:6; Genesis 35:11 emphases added)?  Was Paul another one who was sent out to the nations to procure the sons of Israel (the "lost sheep") who had become nations and kings?  I'm sure Yeshua didn't change his mind when He said that He was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.  In the following scriptures Paul writes (quoting from the Tanach):  "For I do not want you, brethren, to be uninformed of this mystery, lest you be wise in your own estimation, that a partial hardening has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles [ethnos] has come in. And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, there shall come out of Zion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob…"  (Romans 11:25-26 emphasis added).  Again, the usage of "Gentiles" totally takes the reader away from understanding the "mystery of the blindness of Israel."  The "fullness of the nations/goyim" is of course quoted from the blessing to Ephraim in Genesis 48:19). Additionally, what does "all Israel" and a "Deliverer who comes out of Zion to turn away ungodliness from Jacob," mean if these expressions have nothing to do with Jacob and his seed or progeny?

A similar case could be made in regard to Peter's commentary, where he quotes from the Tanach (Old Testament) about Israel: "But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation/ethnos" (Exodus 19:5-6; 1 Peter 2:9).  According to the doctrine of the Catholic Church, the Protestant denominations, and unfortunately the Messianic Jewish churches also, these scriptures apply only to the "once- you- were- not- my- people" (Hosea 1:9-10 words spoken to the northern house of Israel), but now are viewed as the Gentiles who are in the 'holy and universal Church,' and are therefore regarded as the new "Israel of God" or the "one new man."  What has enabled Christendom to come to this conclusion is the way that this one Hebrew word - "GOY" - has been tampered with.

My question to you is: Did St. Jerome and the Catholic Church have any reason to introduce a translation of the Bible (the Vulgate) that would eliminate Israel as YHVH's legitimate nation/goy?  It is not that Latin did not have a word for nation. As a matter of fact, the origin of the English "nation" comes from the Latin "natio" (close in sound to the Greek "ethno," which is the root word the Greeks used for the Hebrew "goy," as mentioned above). 

YHVH defined "goy" and "goyim" when He divided the people and divvied out to them their lands (see Genesis 10:5, 32).  Thus the true definition of "nation/goy" has three basic aspects: a people, tribe, or families living on a piece of real estate/land and subject to one government.  Thereby we could say that government, people, and land are   the necessary components that define a "nation."  If we look at the covenant with the forefathers, it always entailed these three: land, a people, and YHVH's kingdom government (or man's).

What is so amazing is that even Jewish-Israel of today, as well as the Messianic Jews do not identify themselves as a "goy."  They make use of the term "goy" or "goyim" exclusively for non-Jews or "Gentiles."  However, "goy" is still the one Hebrew word that YHVH uses to unite us as one people, and one nation (see Ezekiel 37: 22).  Without correcting this obvious mistranslation and misunderstanding, the "one new man" idea of Ephesians 2:15 is a nice concept, but it does not bring about unity.  The existence of thousands of Christian denominations attest to this fact; nor does it bear witness to YHVH's faithfulness in keeping covenant with Abraham and the "goy gadol" - "great nation" - that was to issue forth from his loins.

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Messiah Yeshua. Galatians 3:28 Shabbat shalom dearly beloved! When I look in the scriptures or in history about the term “eunuch” I only find it as belonging to MEN that have been castrated in order to become ASEXUAL. Those men served in the women’s harems of the kings of old and as government officials. As I mentioned before they were not “homosexuals” but ASEXUALS. They had no sexual inclination or appetite which caused them to be safe among women and in the government since lust for sex can affect relationships and decisions. That is why Paul considered himself to be a “eunuch” for the Kingdom of God. That way all of his energy would be spent in advancing Yah’s Kingdom! We have touched on the subject that most of us will have to be as “eunuchs” (Asexual) for a season if we are not married or if our spouse is not available. This is a Call to Sexual Purity that goes against the grain of the spirit of this world that has made SEXUALITY the highest value in society and SEXUAL “FREEDOM” is likened unto “enlightenment”. The Holy Scriptures call us not to be conformed to the spirit of this world! Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:1, 2 When I googled the term “Women Eunuchs”, I was very surprised to find that the term exists but it means “feminism” or “women’s equality to men” through a book called “The Female Eunuch” published in London in 1970. In other word this term is now used to fight for women’s rights. This movement is very important because it has fought the traditional abuse against women cataloguing them as “inferior” and that in many church circles! It has also fought for women’s rights to VOTE; for equality of rights and wages in the work place and for equal opportunities in pursuing careers or professions. We must say that religion tends to “stereotype” the women and also their sexuality and that has caused untold hurts to millions of women that have been falsely accused of being “Jezebels”, “Evil Eves” and the likes because of being anointed or gifted. Especially in religious Christian circles women have been repressed, oppressed and abused in the name of God and it is high time to end this discrimination that Yeshua Himself ended as Shaul the Apostle so clearly describes in Galatians! There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Messiah Yeshua. Galatians 3:28 However some of the causes of the feminist movement are not scriptural and they are totally opposite to the term “eunuch” that means ASEXUAL, a woman Eunuch according to the feminist movement has the rights to display her sexuality and to have multiple partners just like the men or to be lesbians if they are so inclined! We have already established that MEN are called to sexual purity according to the Scriptures and so are women! That is true freedom! There is NO freedom in displaying your sexuality” unless it is with one’s own husband.  Other than with our own husbands the Word calls us to modesty and discretion, to purity in our THINKING and in our relationships. Remember that pornography is a form of violent adultery and masturbation is self comfort and self satisfaction rooted in lust. Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10 So, in this issue we are endeavouring to redefine the term Women or Female Eunuchs into something else more faithful to the real meaning of the word EUNUCH. YHVE is calling women to maximize their God given potential, to do mighty exploits, to advance the Kingdom to be great business women like in Proverbs 31, to be awesome mothers and wives; to preach, to teach, to raise the dead and heal the sick. To be creative, artistic, feminine and beautiful, to be wise counsellors, to be REAL. Yes all of that BUT to stay PURE. Pure in your thinking, in your motivations, in your behaviour, in the way you dress and the way you address men. A true Woman Eunuch will not provoke or seduce a man but rather attract him more to Yeshua. Women have been given a great ability to influence and we have the responsibility to influence men and children into holiness and righteousness. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:26 SEXUAL MANIPULATION There is one word in the Scriptures that is very revealing as to how not to use your female sexuality. This word is AUTENTEO in Greek which means “sexually manipulate men to do what you want”. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. 1 Timothy 2:12 This is one of the most misunderstood verses in the New Testament because of misinterpretation and biased translation from the Greek. The word to have authority here is AUTENTEO. This word does not exist anywhere else in the Scriptures so we can’t compare it with another scripture at all! In order to understand this verse we must understand the context of the verse. The prostitutes of the pagan temples were getting saved and being women of great intellectual, spiritual and sexual charisma, Paul wanted to put boundaries to their “expression”. The word AUTENTEO appears only in Greek literature and it means “To sexually manipulate a man in order to make him do what you want”. Thus the translators translated it into having authority or teaching men which is not accurate at all. This has caused many people to shun women in ministry and Mighty Vessels of Yah in female gender have been greatly opposed and rejected! However Paul is warning pastor Timothy who was pasturing the ex temple prostitutes to watch out for sexual manipulation and to make sure that these women learnt the ways of the Kingdom before they were allowed to exercise any authority! This particular scripture when properly interpreted can bring great FREEDOM! So, women just like men when they get saved need to RELEARN some things and apply PURITY to all our behaviour and relationships! So, beloved LADIES, sexual manipulation is OUT. If you want to influence your husband on righteous things use the Queen Esther’s Way, she fasted and prayed and confronted the king even at her own risk! She was courageous and bold but did not use “the bed” to obtain deliverance for her Jewish People! In fact YHVH used her when the king had not called her for 30 days, which means she had no sex with him for 30 days! All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that any man or woman who goes into the inner court to the king, who has not been called, he has but one law: put all to death, except the one to whom the king holds out the golden scepter, that he may live. Yet I myself have not been called to go in to the king these thirty days.”  Esther 4:12 Contrary to some popular council, we do not need “sex” to influence men, we need WISDOM and COURAGE! And if we need sex then maybe what we want to get is not really righteous in Yah’s eyes! “Go, gather all the Jews who are present in Shushan, and fast for me; neither eat nor drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will fast likewise. And so I will go to the king, which is against the law; and if I perish, I perish!” Esther 4:12 Women are the Temple of the Holy Spirit Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own. 1 Corinthians 6:19 Many women put up with abusiveness in men. Many pastors actually advise women to put up with sinful adulterous husbands and to keep on catering to them sexually. This has caused untold hurts and even crimes. Women need to learn to honor their bodies as the Temple of the Holy Spirit! One day I was counselling many women in a Far Eastern country. Most of them had horror stories to tell me and all of them where Spirit filled Christians! One of them was pregnant and she was sick with a venereal disease that came from her husband and the baby in her womb carried it too. The husband was an adulterer and a whoremonger and did not know the Lord. The pastor had counselled this lady to keep on submitting to him and having intercourse with him in spite of this situation. This woman was totally broken! I told her that she needed to “close her legs” and not to allow that man in anymore, as she is the Temple of the Holy Spirit! This happens also with “Christian men”. Another woman had to put up with watching pornographic films with her husband before love making and taking of ecstasy drugs! That is the way he liked it and he would be very upset if she did not comply! The said pastor had suggested that in order to maintain “peace” in the family she needed to comply and submit to her Christian husband! All these abused women were broken and miserable! Beloved ladies, the Word does not call you to submit to any kind of sexual abuse or sexual impurities. In fact it says to us not to even eat with one who is called brother (even if he is your husband, he is first your brother!) and continues in sin or sexual immorality! But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person. 1 Corinthians 5:11 If your husband is not saved the Word says to stay with him IF he is willing to stay with you as a BELIEVER. Only if he is willing to honor your faith and standards of conduct including and especially in the sexual arena! If he is not honouring you as a Woman of God, you should not submit to any immoral sexual practices and should keep your body and soul PURE! You will not win him over by “submitting” to his worldliness that’s for sure! The Amplified Bible explains this very well! And if any woman has an unbelieving husband and he consents to live with her, she should not leave or divorce him. For the unbelieving husband is set apart (separated, withdrawn from heathen contamination, and affiliated with the Christian people) by union with his consecrated (set-apart) wife, and the unbelieving wife is set apart and separated through union with her consecrated husband. 1 Corinthians 7:13, 14 The unbelieving husband is set apart or sanctified because though he does not believe, he exercises the Biblical laws of morality like his wife! God forbid that wives will be influenced by the ungodly ways of their immoral husbands! Who are we to love more, YESHUA or our husbands? We do not need immoral sexual practices to win them over only Wisdom, Purity and Courage! So, do not submit to adultery, pornography and abuse in order to please “god” that is not the true God of Israel who is not pleased that his daughters are defiled and abused! Beloved Women we are called to Sexual Purity and to have a healthy feminine dignity and self esteem. We are fearfully and wonderfully made! For You formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother's womb.  I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. We will try to answer these questions in part, in this study based on the sacred texts of the Word of G-d and certain Jewish sources.   Yeshiva Sukkat David    Distance Messianic Yeshiva  Study with Judah Messianic Torah Observant Teachers in Israel.  DISTANCE MESSIANIC YESHIVA   A very interesting comment from one member of the Yeshiva: "This past weekend when I was meditating, the L-rd showed me something---not a profound revelation mind you, just a continuation of what He's been showing me concerning the House of Judah---I correlate it to 2 Corinthians 3:3 clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.  Judah is not just the keeper of the Oracles of G-d, they are not just leader in the things of G-d; He has made them a  "living epistle"---His book on display, so to speak. Again, Judah, the elder brother has been leading the way. This living epistle has been and continues  to be a visual, living  depiction of His eternal plan set in the midst of man for all to see.  Through obedience to the practice and keeping of the annual feasts, Shabbat, Torah, they continually and symbolically depict His redemption, death, burial, resurrection, infilling, ingathering, forgiveness, light, eternity through  openly keeping His commandments! This "epistle" has been on display for centuries, as a testimony, but sadly, man has not seen and has openly condemned, criticized, ridiculed, tried to destroy and has oft times refused to receive this wonderful display of HaShem's faithfulness. His awesome plan truly on display every day for those who have eyes to see and ears to hear and a heart to receive what has been written and given. I pray that all would see, but especially the House of Israel/Ephraim  as the tribes make their return. I thank G-d for putting on display through Judah, in the keeping of His appointed feasts, His eternal plan and that He has given me eyes to see!! "   You have two possibilities to study: Complete training with graduation or Personal enrichment. The Complete training will allow those who want to teach Torah to be part of our network of Torah teachers, who desire to start a Yeshiva in their home or at their kehila. Sukkat David will offer help to those who want to initiate Torah study groups. Take the opportunity to study Torah starting with the highly prophetic Book of Genesis. Torah is the key for the end times; everything has been written in it. We just need to dive into it and receive tremendous revelations on Yeshua and His plan for our lives.   From the beginning of the messianic calling of the first Patriarch, the Torah teaches us that faith is the key to salvation. Grace also has been present since the beginning. The foundations are laid from the first Book of the Bible, to help us understand the perfect plan of salvation that G-d has for mankind. If one doesn't study the foundations of this plan a great part of the Revelation is lost, notably, the Revelation of Messiah Yeshua.   Receiving Him in our heart as Savior and Master is one thing, one first necessary step for our salvation, but our path doesn't stop there. After Pesach (salvation by grace), we must head to the Festival celebrated in honor of HaShem, "three days walk" after the reception of the Torah: Shavuot. Avraham saw the L-rd, and the story of his life and of his descendents reveals His Presence, even from the beginning.   The same way we have received the Savior in our hearts,  it is now about receiving His Torah engraved in our hearts, even as proclaimed by the prophets in Jeremiah 31:31.  True new birth takes place by the action of the Ruach HaKodesh, who circumcises our hearts to be able to walk according to the criteria of holiness of Elohim. But in order to be able to walk in these commandements, under Yeshua's yoke, we need to know the Word. When did G-d speak, before the eyes and to the ears of all, with the sound of thunder, setting ablaze an entire mountain? The answer is obvious: the Creator of the universe came to reveal His heart at Mount Sinai, a place that didn't belong to anyone,  and that was open freely to all those who wanted to drink the waters of life. Yeshua manifested Himself on that day at Mount Sinai, but only Moshe could see Him. Moshe's skin shone so intensely that he covered it with a veil. He shone from the initial Light of Creation: the Light of Messiah. He is the PURPOSE of the Torah; He fills us with His love and calls us to follow Him, to prepare a heavenly Bride. He left us these words: John 5:45-47 But don't think that it is I who will be your accuser before the Father. Do you know who will accuse you? Moshe, the very one you have counted on! For if you really believed Moshe, you would believe me; because it was about me that he wrote. But if you don't believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say? Indeed, if we don't believe the Torah of Moshe, how will we believe the words of Yeshua? They are the same, only revealed to our  understanding, because the veil was lifted. By studying the Torah, our intimate knowledge and revelation of Yeshua grows.   Don't stay at the stage of Pesach and salvation by grace; move on to the stage of priesthood! Next session: February 2011     This study is an excerpt of our book on Shavuot: The Call of Mount Sinai.Special price 12 USD     Now Yithro יִתְרו the priest of Midyan, Moshe's father-in-law, heard about all that God had done for Moshe and for Israel his people, how Adonai had brought Israel out of Egypt. Exodus 18:1   The Feast is close at hand, but first, another figure comes on the scene, one who will play a determining role in the leadership of the Jewish people in the desert: Yithro, the first official convert and Moshe's step father!     Now Yithro the priest of Midyan, Moshe's father-in-law, heard, vayishma וַיִּשְׁמַע about all that God had done... Exodus 18:1 This event with Yithro is directly linked to the receiving of the Torah and even bears his name. To him also was given the privilege of having his name linked with this very important Feast of G-d! What purpose or reason would lead an important and famous priest like Yithro to come into the desert to meet the Jewish people, apart from family relationship? Yithro, an advisor at Pharaoh's council, fled after the decision was made to persecute the Israelites.[2] Other people had heard about the bankruptcy of Egypt and the fall of Amalek but only Yithro, as a truth seeker, received a holy fear. Not only had Yithro "heard" about the miracles and understood that the punishment of Pharaoh and Amalek's rebellion and pride was not the only purpose, but he also comprehended the love G-d had for His people Israel:   Now Yithro, the priest of Midyan, Moshe's father-in-law, heard of all that God had done for Moshe and for Israel his people, how Adonai had brought Israel out of Egypt. Exodus 18:1 He also understood that G-d wanted to make this people His people, and it was because of this dimension of love from such a Great and All Mighty G-d that Yithro's heart was deeply touched; because of this, he will leave his high rank of priest and the entire honor that goes with it to meet the Israelites in the desert. His thirst of truth is greater than the love of glory. He is called "Moshe's step father" as being proud to belong to the House of Israel.   Now I know that Adonai is greater than all other gods, because he rescued those who were treated so arrogantly. Exodus 18:11   This humble attitude from Yithro will provoke the coming forth of Moshe and a procession of Ancients will follow this encounter: Aaron, his sons, the seventy elders and the whole people will welcome him. It is said that even the divine Presence revealed itself to honor this first official Gentile convert. Moshe will welcome him in the study tent: Moshe went out to meet his father-in-law, prostrated himself and kissed him. Then, after inquiring of each other's welfare, they entered the tent. Exodus 18:7 He will tell him the miracles G-d performed for them, once more drawing Yithro's heart. He will hear what Elohim אלהים  has done for His people (18:1) and then discover why Adonai  יהוה  did it (18:8) and the dimension of His abundant grace. Elohim is the name of G-d used for the natural laws and judgment[4], what is called "the measure of judgment" the midat din and Adonai[5], the sacred four letters, is the name used to express "the measure of grace", the midat chesed. When the nations heard that the great priest Yithro was converted and circumcised (as suggests the word vayichad, וַיִּחַדְּhe rejoiced, which root chad חד means "sharp knife"), many were impressed and left their idols.[6]   Yithro rejoiced vayichad וַיִּחַדְּ over all the good that Adonai had done for Israel by rescuing them from the Egyptians. Exodus 18:9 Yithro received with joy the yoke of the Torah and of the circumcision because he had both heard and understood that the G-d of Israel was first and foremost a G-d of love, and as such, he also prepared himself to participate in this great Feast, this gift of love that the children of Israel were about to receive. There was a great celebration and meal prepared, in Yithro's honor. In the same way, I tell you, there is joy among God's angels when one sinner repents." Luke 15:10 The Word describes for us the event of Yithro's counsel to Moshe for the leading of the people. However, Tradition believes this event is not set in order in the Bible, but instead sets this occurrence after the receiving of the Ten Commandments, as well Yithro's departure for Midian which also happened after the receiving of the Torah. Yithro, filled with wisdom, will help Moshe to do his part and the other valuable men assigned to leadership to take care of their part, in order to educate the people: for the knowledge of the L-rd to grow. Those men were chosen by specific qualifications, the qualities of which Paul (Shaul) will also later be inspired to recommend to young Timothy, for the choosing of the elders. Moshe will have to use his prophetic gifts of discernment as suggests the word used, techezeh, the root of which also means "vision":   But you should choose, techezeh, תֶחֱזֶה from among all the people competent men who are God-fearing, honest and incorruptible to be their leaders, in charge of thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens.
