commentary from Ardelle on Vayikra

Can we do תפילות prayers for:

Ardelle and Cal?

That also through them The האור Light, רפואה The Healing and The ואהבה Love of ישועת יהוה Yeshuath YHWH may come back to הארץ The Land of Israel?

Shalom!

It’s hard to believe, but we are already in the 3rd book of the Torah.  The book of Vayikra begins where Shemot left off.  The Tabernacle has been built, the glory has filled it, and now there must be more directions for the services that will take place there.  What is the reason for the sacrifices?

Elevation in Affliction1
To the merely casual student, korbanos represent a collection of details overwhelming in abundance, and short on inspiring understanding. One korban stands out as different. Olas ha-of, a bird offered as a wholly burnt offering, makes matters even worse! Its details are not just different from comparable korbanos, they seem to run in an entirely reverse direction.

A Complete Recovery
He called to Moshe, and HASHEM spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting, saying, “Speak to the Children of Israel and say to them; ‘When a man from (amongst) you brings an offering to HASHEM from animals- from the cattle or from the flock shall you bring your offering.’” (Vayikra 1:1-2)

When a man sacrifices from you: When a man sacrifices, it should be from your essence, with verbal confession and ultra-humility. “We will pay with the bulls of our lips” (Referring to prayer) “The sacrifice to G-d is a broken spirit” (Tehillim 51), because HASHEM does not desire the foolish to come close without having subjugated themselves first… (Seforno)

"And He called to Moses"

(Leviticus 1:1)
II Adar 5, 5771/March 10, 2011

Who called to Moses? The verse continues, explaining that "HaShem spoke to him from the Tent of Meeting." But the questions remains: Why the mysterious beginning? The book of Leviticus is the third of the five books of Torah. It is the middle book, the very heart of the written Torah. The anonymous nature of "And He called to Moses" almost suggests that we are eavesdropping on a very intimate conversation.
