Pharaoh employed sundry stratagems to uproot and destroy the children of Israel, chillingly reminiscent of recent and contemporary programs to annihilate Israel. Yet, despite it all, Israel abides. But why did G-d put Israel in Egypt? What was the Egyptian exile all about?

Dear Friends,
Searching for lost puzzle pieces and wiping up spills: As I care for my little ones, these are the types of tasks that fill my day. Maybe I should be spending my time on more important things, I wonder, as I build block towers that will be knocked down a moment later.
And then my mind wanders to Moses. The greatest prophet who ever lived, he redeemed the people of Israel from Egypt and received the Torah from G‑d at Mount Sinai. Quite an impressive resume, I think.
I picture Moses earlier in his career, a shepherd carefully tending to the needs of his flock. I see him in my mind's eye, following a runaway sheep for miles, finally catching up with it at a body of water. "If only I had known that you were thirsty!" Moses exclaims, as he tenderly lifts the sheep on his shoulder and carries it back. Said G‑d, "This compassionate shepherd will care for My flock as well."
There are endless opportunities in an ordinary day, so many chances to extend a caring hand. So when voices call out in need, I try my best to emulate Moses as I answer with a smile. And I know that what I am doing is really important.

http://www.healthwatchman.com Many Christians foolishly claim the guidelines taught in the original covenant is done away with and replaced by the new covenant. It is actually an original and renewed covenant, not Testament and the law is actually the Torah and it has not been done away with. In the Scriptures, Messiah calls those who do not follow Torah foolish.

In this week’s parashah, we read of the exile and slavery of Bnei Yisrael and of the very beginning of the redemption. In the Pesach Haggadah we say, “If G-d had not taken us out of there, then we and our sons and our descendants would be subjugated to Pharaoh in Egypt.” The question is well known: Why do we assume that we would still be in Egypt thousands of years later when, throughout world history, kingdoms rise and kingdoms fall? Who is to say that we would not have left Egypt in time through natural means? Furthermore, what is the purpose of speculating; didn’t G-d promise Avraham that we would be redeemed?
