Message 12-18-10 VaYechi-And He Lived Genesis 47:28-50:26 1 Kings 2:1-12 Introduction The story of Joseph is all but over. The Patriarchal epic is drawing to a close, but there is still some unfinished business and it serves as a logical lead-in to the main story of the Torah, the exile and redemption of Israel, the giving of the Torah, and the fulfillment of God’s promise of the “land flowing with milk and honey.” Just as the Parashah VaYechi encompasses the last will and testament of Jacob, the haftarah portion includes the final will of David. Both the Torah portion and the haftarah portion close with the death of a great leader, Joseph and David, respectively.   Shalom Chaverim!
