Dear,
Greetings my brethren! This week we begin on a new teaching topic:Crossing Over From Pagan to Hebrew Roots. This journey of discovering and crossing over to Hebrew Roots is a PROCESS and a JOURNEY. It does not happen in one day. And, the journey can sometimes be difficult and stormy. How did paganism creep into Christianity? And, how do we come out of it? We can compare Christianity to a ship. When a ship is off its navigational course by only 2 degrees, you will not see much difference in a day or even a week. But, over the course of months and years, decades and centuries, the ship can be WIDELY OFF COURSE. Learn about how and when the early church began to go off course, and how this has affected us today! This will help us all in getting a COURSE CORRECTION! Be sure to also visit this week's Learning Blog where you can post your comments and questions! |
Crossing Over From Pagan to Hebrew Roots: Part 1 |
Hebrew means to "Cross over": Are you a Hebrew? |
Are there pagan roots that have found their way into modern Christianity today? To answer this question, we will need to go back in time and take a look at origins and foundations. This learning nugget takes us back to the time when the Hebrews were living in the promised land under the rule of King Solomon, and then his son, Rehoboam. We will examine how paganism first crept into the nation of Israel. We look at:
The First Great Divorce: the kingdom split between the house of Israel (10 tribes of the north) and the house of Judah (2 tribes of the south)
The Second Great Divorce: the role and influence of Constantine and the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D on the early church Click here to watch the clip. (15 minutes) |

What is Faith? A Hebrew Perspective |
Shema Israel: Hear O Israel, Yahweh our Elohim, Yahweh is One! |
Enjoy this fascinating article by Eddie Rogers as he delves into the topic,
"What is Faith?" from a Hebrew Perspective:
"Our goal is to define the term "faith" according to how the Scripture defines faith and not what we "think" it means. The Scriptures does in fact define its own terms if we take the time to research these things out. Faith is best described as trusting faithfulness in Yahweh which in turn leads to practicing the truth of the Torah. In a Hebrew mindset, if we have faith in Yahweh then we will also live faithfully by His Truth which is the Torah." Read more... |

This Week's Torah Portion |
Ki Tisa: "When You Take"
Exodus 30:11-34:35, 1 Kings 18: 1-39, Matthew 9:35-11:1 |
Ki Tisa(כי תשא) literally means "when you lift up." It comes from the first words of the second verse of the reading, which could be literally rendered, "When you lift up the head of the sons of Israel to reckon them" (Exodus 30:12). The phrase "lift up the head" is an idiom for taking a head count. The portion begins with instructions for taking a census, finishes up the instructions for making the Tabernacle, reiterates the commandment of Shabbat and then proceeds to tell the story of the golden calf.
