3rd day of 13th month of 6010A
Dear,

Greetings my brethren!  This week we continue our journey of learning about the Four levels of Torah study. For me, understanding the 4 levels of Torah study has provided a much needed "mental mind map" to understand the scriptures.  I found I could navigate so much easier on the terrain with map and compass in my hand.
compass

My hope and prayer is that as we wrap up this two-part study, that it will give you a map and a compass so that you can dig deeper in the word and uncover buried treasure for yourself, seeing shadow pictures of our beloved Messiah in the Torah, and seeing our future as we read about our past.

Have a blessed week!

The Four Levels of Torah Study: Part 2
The Second Two Levels: Drash and Sod
Torah scroll
There are four levels of Torah study. It can be likened to digging into the ground: with each level you are digging a little deeper and uncovering buried treasure.
Drash: (look for patterns & thematic connections) This is what you find when you dig even deeper (with tools like a shovel).
Sod: (hidden) This is the deepest level of digging. You look at ancient picture language of Hebrew letters, their meaning and numbers associated to them (gematria).
In this week's video teaching, we look at the first two levels of Torah study.  Have fun learning more about how to dig for buried treasure in the Torah!

This Week's Torah Portion
Vayikra   "He Called"Leviticus 1:1-5:26, Isaiah 43:21-44:23, Mark 7:1-30

Torah portions
Leviticus describes the sacrificial service and the duties of the priests. It also introduces ritual purity, the biblical diet, Yahweh's calendar of biblical feasts, and the laws of holiness and redemption.
The portion this week introduces the sacrificial service and describes five different types of sacrifices. In Romans 12:1, Paul urges us to present our bodies as "living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God." What does this mean in practical terms? Paul uses the sacrificial language as a picture for obedience. He urges us to lay aside  our own will, our selfish flesh and to willingly submit ourselves to the commands of Yah. When we set aside our own personal desires and inclinations for the sake of obeying Abba, we are sacrificing ourselves for the sake of heaven. In today's world there is no Tabernacle or Temple in which a person might offer a sacrifice. If we desire to give Abba a gift today, we can give our own humble submission to His will. We can give Him the humble sacrifice of grateful obedience.
