Ardelle ?

That also through them The האור Light, רפואה The Healing and The ואהבה Love of ישועת יהוהYeshuath YHWH may come back to הארץ The Land of Israel?

Shalom!

As we study parashat Vayera, we read of a powerful Elohim, protecting His people.  The people of Israel have been reduced to a helpless, mass of slaves, unable to lift their own heads.  Yet, they will witness how powerful their God is as they see their oppressors humbled before the Elohim of Avraham, Yitzchak and Ya’acov.  Many of the plagues will explicitly show the distinction between the Israelites and the Egyptians.  For the Israelites, it is a transforming experience.  Why did YHWH Elohim choose to use the plagues to accomplish His purposes instead of simply liberating them through a quick, massive show of power?  Perhaps it is that we as people respond most to a process of events, not a one time show.  A process is what changes us on the inside.  An inner change is also what must take place before we can continue on to the Mountain to receive the Torah, and onward to the Promised Land.

The Israelites became liberated and were now free to make choices.  They would receive the Torah and they would continue the journey to the Promised Land.  That journey would be lengthened to 40 years because they were still hanging on to their slave mentality.  Torah was and is the pathway to freedom.  It begins with the exodus (liberation from bondage) and continues with the application of Torah to our daily lives.  It was the Almighty who first liberated the people.  Moshe is not remembered as their liberator, but as their teacher of Torah.   We too have been liberated from bondage through the blood of our Messiah.  And most of us are still stuck somewhere in the wilderness as we pursue the Promised Land, learning Torah from our teacher.

We study Torah so we can learn from the example of our forefathers.

1 Corinthians 10:6 Now these things became our examples….

Shabbat Shalom!
Ardelle
