Shabbat Metzora  Friday 4 Nisan 5771 - April 8, 2011

Dear,

Clearly, one of the most difficult to understand parts of Temple life was the treatment of leprosy, the archetypal disease described in the Torah. Shrouded in mystery is the spiritual purification process required by a leper who had been healed from the disease, the first topic of this week's Torah reading, Metzora.

In this week's short video lecture (9 minutes), Making of a Remedy, Harav Ginsburgh explains the spiritual symbolism of the 4 things that take part in this process: 2 live birds, a piece of Cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop. By explaining what these elements correspond to in our psyche and soul, the Rav brings to life how this mitzvah, which normally seems so far-removed from our own lives, is quite relevant to our own spiritual development and ability to heal.

In spite of the short time before Shabbat, I would like to encourage you to invite friends and family to view this short presentation as well.

You probably know all about the Rav's daily blog, chock-full of the most innovative Torah on the planet - no kidding! Take a look. It updates just about daily, so I'm sure you'll want to subscribe to receive updates by email. The blog can also be read in Hebrew, Spanish, and Russian.

To view videos from past weeks, either visit our website or go to our  English youtube channel.

Also, Innerpedia, our encyclopedia of Torah and Judaism, focusing on their inner dimension is back up. You may also want to take a look at its Hebrew counterpart.

If you know Hebrew, check out our constantly updated site Malchuty Yisra'el. The site contains transcripts of farbrengens, lectures, and seminars in Hebrew from past years (all the way back to the early 80s) and the latest.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom,

Rabbi Moshe Genuth
