That through them The האור Light, רפואה The Healing and The ואהבה Love of ישועת יהוה Yeshuath YHWH may come back to הארץ The Land of Israel?Shalom!
In Yosef's revelation to his brothers, he expresses how it was the Hand of Elohim on him that brought him to Egypt. And the reason?
Bereshith 45:7 But Elohim sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.
Therefore, Yosef's Kingdom responsibility was to ensure the physical well-being of his family while they were in Egypt.
The other major player is Yehuda. It is taught that Yehuda was sent ahead of the family in order to establish a place of Torah study -
Bereshith 46:28 And Yehuda he hath sent before him unto Yosef, to direct before him to Goshen, and they come into the land of Goshen;
The word "direct" is the Hebrews word "yarah" which is an archery term meaning to shoot arrows. Yarah is the root word of Torah. Torah is the bulls-eye. Anything that misses the mark of Torah is defined as sin. So Yehuda is sent ahead in order to make their spiritual lives in Egypt a priority.
So we have Yosef with the physical responsibility and Yehuda with the spiritual responsibility. Rabbi Yehonasan Gefen points out that these two roles continue through out the Bible. Yosef's role is secondary as his job is to facilitate Yehuda's position as King (future). It is interesting to note that Yosef always plays the number 2 role. He is second to Potiphar, then second to the prison warden. He later becomes second to the Pharaoh. Yosef has a lot of power, but he's always the number 2 guy. For a lot of people, this would not be good enough. But for Yosef...he accepts this role with joy and acceptance.
Rabbi Gefen also points out that two of Yosef's most famous descendants were also faced with a secondary role. They responded in differing ways. The first, Yehoshua was a very devoted servant and student of Moshe. He actually did attain to a leadership role over Israel, however, always under the Torah of Moshe.
Yosef's other descendant was Yereboam who was given an incredible opportunity to lead 10 tribes of Israel. He was even given great promises -
1 Kings 11:38 If you do whatever I command you and walk in my ways and do what is right in my eyes by keeping my statutes and commands, as David my servant did, I will be with you. I will build you a dynasty as enduring as the one I built for David and will give Israel to you.
Yereboam, however, was not given the prize of Jerusalem. This went to the tribe of Yehuda -
1 Kings 11:36 'And to his (Solomon's) son I will give one tribe, that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen for Myself, to put My name there.
Second wasn't good enough for Yereboam. He feared that his people would go to Jerusalem to worship and he resorted to setting up two golden calves in the north and banning everyone from going to the Temple.
So the point in all of this? Understand the role of Yosef...it is about servitude. Serving the King and also serving brother, Yehuda, physically. I find it fascinating how many times Yeshua spoke of being a servant. And He was a servant like no other -
Philippians 2:7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Do you want more of an end-time revelation? Take on the servant role -
Revelation 1:1 The Revelation of Yeshua the Messiah, which Elohim gave Him to show His servants -- things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John
I love what is written in 2 Timothy about being a servant -
2 Timothy 2:24 And a servant of Adonai must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth
Shabbat Shalom!
Ardelle
